The 3009 (with 9” pivot-to-stylus distance) is the arm we recommend for the home user, and it shares with the 3012 the distinction of being the most versatile conventional-type tonearm on the market today. The Model 3012 is 12” from pivot to stylus, to accommodate old broadcast-type 16” transcriptions, but its mass is too high for the majority of to day's high-compliance pickups. There are two models available, differing only in pivot-to-stylus distance and in total mass. It was available in a stereo version as far back as 1961, and apart from a couple of minor refinementsthe addition of a bias compensator and a new, lightweight shellit is still the same arm, and it still has the reputation of being the perfectionist's tonearm.

THORENS TURNTABLE WITH SME TONEARM FULL
You may return the turntable within 7 days of arrival for a full refund, minus shipping charges. We will pack the turntable very carefully and securely, as if it were a crystal vase. The complete package includes digital scales (to adjust the cartridge tracking force), spirit level (to adjust the turntable level) and instructions for player and tonearm adjustment and tuning. You can also tell us your stabilizer weight and we will tune the sub-chassis for free.

The stabilizer from the pictures cost an additional €60. The fully-loaded sub-chassis (platter, slipmat, vinyl and stabilizer) must be parallel to the supporting chassis. The suspended sub-chassis will be tuned for use both with or without a stabilizer. The new acrylic dust cover on hinges can be installed for additional €190. The small platter disc is made from metal and has a bigger bearing shaft diameter (then the usual small patter discs by Thorens 146, 160). The main platter disc is polished in matte and painted with lacquer to prevent tarnishing. All of the soldering was done using audiophile silver solder WBT-0820 and flux X-M3 (no traces of adulterated alcohol). The old cables were replaced with new audiophile high quality cables and gold plated RCA plugs. Installation and tuning are free of charge, and you can also just send us your cartridge.

We would recommend to install something like Nagaoka MP 150 (around €300), Ortofon Blue (around €180) or Bronze (around €300), Audio Technica At 150 MLX (around €350). The tonearm is not equipped with the phono cartridge. It was selected in an already good condition. The player is upgraded with legendary “SME 3009” tonearm. The rubber drive belt was meticulously cleaned using only hot water and soap avoiding the use of any solvent which would have altered the elasticity of the rubber. The result of the bearing restoration is a more stable and smooth rotation and less mechanical noise. The platter bearing was cleaned of all the old oil and grease, and then oiled again with high quality oil especially recommended for this player’s bearing. The top surface is painted in black matte lacquer. This removes the specific metallic tinkle and also adjusts tonal balance to give a natural sound. The metal sub-chassis were damped with special acoustic material. These spikes enable to isolate the equipment from external vibrations in the environment.

The whole structure is carried by 3 height adjustable spike foots with locknuts for better stability. The bottom of the plinth, made of 21 mm plywood, additionally damps parasitic resonances and vibrations without losing the natural harmonic richness of an analogue instrument. The tree is gently processed and oiled with special furniture oil. The player’s plinth is made from Mahagon wood. It is a top quality instrument which will deliver incomparable musical performance and protect your records for years to come. The Thorens TD 125 MK II is the high-end classic model from the early 1970s. It's also possible to customize the turntable according your wishes (contact us). It will be the same as on the pictures, just the pattern of wood can be a little bit different.
